Our landscapes...

We remembered to use 'thirds' in our landscape and also tested out some of the ideas shared by Mrs Whalen ...

 'portrait' style paper

warm colours closer

cooler colours further away

something on the side (at the front)

miixing colours

odd numbers in groupings ...

Though this was a "quick sketch & paint" we are pretty happy with the results. 

Landscape Painting - visiting artist...

This term during Art we are focusing on landscape painting - we have looked at and tried out the styles of Ted Harrison(Canada), Rita Angus ( NZ) and Vincent Van Gogh ( Europe) ...

Today we had artist Janet Whalen (Petone) visit us! 

We found out lots of things about her as an artist and also some good techniques. 

We also found out that she is a member of the NZ Watercolour Association - we'll be looking out for her at the exhibition!

Art with Mrs Sams

Mrs Sams is with us for two weeks while Ms D is in Aus. (Which is a little funny because Mrs Sams is Australian!)

On Friday Mrs Sams planned an awesome art lesson - we did a few different tasks but the favourite was the modeling!
